Tajimaya Japanese Charcoal Grill Yakiniku@Vivocity
Revisiting Tajimaya at Vivocity! We could not get through the line for reservation so decided to join the queue. The staff are so overwhelmed with serving customers, serving orders, adding charcoal. changing grills and clearing tables that it took a whole 15min before anyone came to sit us.
Buffet Menu
Straight forward option if you are having the buffet. One menu fits all and the variety is pretty decent. If you decide not to have the buffet, you can opt for the ala carte menu.
You can refer to the menu on their website.
A weak charcoal flame and grill set when we were seated.
Sauces for the BBQ dips.
Enoki with Butter, Shiitake Mushroom, Zucchini and Leeks.
Iberico Pork Collar.
Australian Wagyu Short Rib.
Australian OX Tongue.
Tiger Prawns.
Grilling our meats as we were starving as it is a good 20min after placing our orders that we were served.
The weak flame did not help in getting the caramalisation needed and we had to get the attention of the staff to add more charcoal.
Garlic rice.
I found it a tad too whet thought this is good to fill the stomach while waiting for the meat to be ready.
Our 2nd round of order – 2 portions of Beef Short Ribs.
Getting Fatter this round.
Kimuchi Pork Belly.
2nd round of Tiger Prawns.
Chilled Tofu that took forever to come.
Half Shelf Scallop.
Scallops are very hard to grill and tell how it is cooked so I continue to grill the fatty beef instead over the not so hot charcoal.
Grilled Tiger Prawns.
Wakame Soup.
I like this soup as it does not only have seaweed in it, it has some egg as well.
Ordered this in my first round of order and only got it towards the end of my meal when the table beside me ordered hers. When it was served, I thought my order finally came but it went to the other table instead and I had to signal to the service staff that I ordered it too and not too sure where he went to hijack one and give me pretty promptly after that. 😛
Last Order of zucchini. I got a double portion this time round 😛
Last order of Beef Rib.
Overall damage after 10%GST and 7%Service charge for 2 came up to $148.07. For big groups who have to stick strictly to the 100 minutes time limited, the service time and slow flames may leave one feeling hungry after the meal. Orders have to be repeatedly ask for and this makes the meal less enjoyable as you have to be on the constant lookout for catch one to ask for your orders.
