Nanbantei Japanese Restaurant 南蛮亭 @ Far East Plaza
Been a while since we last visited. This place is cozily small so it’s always hard to get a seat if you do not make a reservation in an advance. We got a seat easily since we were the last pair of customers to step in at approximately 8.30pm on a Tuesday night. 1-2 pax are usually seated at the counter seat where you get to see the action of your Yakitori grilling in process and getting to eat it piping hot since the chef will place it right in front of you once the food is done!
Trying out the Sashimi and Yakitori course meal 刺身・焼き鳥コース since PB wanted sashimi and I wanted Yakitori and we do not eat much for weekday dinners nowadays!
It was all polished off after I took a piece of Salmon.
8 sticks Yakitori consists of chicken, pork, beef and veggies. The service staff checked if we can take beef and they will replace it with another meat if you cannot take beef.
Close up of the sticks of meat and vegetables. Love the balanced flavour of the mini tomato maki (Mini Tomato wrapped with Pork) but be careful when eating it as the cherry tomato is VERY HOT!
Close up of the Asparagus Maki (asparagus wrapped with pork) , Okura (lady’s finger, it’s not slimy at all!) , Tsukune (Chicken Meat Balls), Negima (chicken with leeks) and beef. All perfectly grilled and seasoned!
The set also comes with a red bean dessert with a mochi. At $43++, I find the set a good treat for yourself after a long day at work as you do not have to wreck your brain to think of what to eat.
Of course we added on something that is really hard to find nowadays! Chicken cartilage! saw another tabling ordering 6 sticks and chomping on it too!
PB’s must order when he goes to a Japanese restaurant
