Big Brown Bear Hokkaido Miso Ramen 熊出没注意みそラーメン

Fancy some home cooked ramen for dinner?

My “buy now or never” loot from the farmmart! LOL

I bought plenty of food from my recent trip to Japan and till now, I can still relish the wonderful holiday I had!  One of the souvenir that I decided to get myself was some ramen! I was hesitant in buying it as I do not know what they taste like, some of them were pretty expensive, the expiry date was very short and I was afraid that the ramen may all be broken by the time we fly get back to Singapore. In the end, I still could not resist picking 2 packets of ramen from the Farm Mart at Mitsui Outlet Shopping Mall as it was the last day we were brought around by our driver before we were left on our own in Sapporo.

Not knowing what to get, I picked the flavour that I like – Miso, and salt ramen- specialty of Asahikawa and will be trying the Miso one today.

If I did not remember wrongly, this packet of ramen cost ¥172 (~SGD2.20). Opening up the package, you get one packet of miso paste and a packet of ramen.

Close up of the ramen. Looks so much better and tastier than our maggie mee. 😛 Not knowing how to read Japanese, I tried putting 2 and 2 together to cook my instant miso ramen!

From what I guess, you will need to put 600ml of water to boil and then cook the noodles for 4.5min or 3.5 if you like it al dente.

Once the ramen is cooked to the doneness you prefer, remove from flame and stir in the miso paste.

The moment I cut open the pack, I could smell the fragrance of the miso…. Oooooooooooh… uncontrollable drool!

Stir till well mixed and it is ready to be eaten.

You can add in seasonal vegetables that you like (according to what I guess was written on the package) or in my case, I added an egg 🙂

As I was processing these photos, I could smell the aromatic scent of the miso wafting in from the window. I wonder who is also cooking the ramen at home! I want to eat!!! If only I had bought more!

Close up of the ramen – the straight, thin kind and goes so well with the rich miso soup so that you can slurp it up LOUD!

If there are any Japanese readers who can understand English, I hope you can tell me if I cooked my ramen correctly! Hope I did not miss a step of blanching the ramen! 😛
