Finally finally finally… Finally got to try this nasi lemak stall at Tanjong Pagar Market!
I was pretty close to tasting it some time back but when I almost reached the stall, the owners said that it is sold out! So near yet so far away! Today finally got to try it! The lunch crowd was super late today and with my sharp eye, I quickly joined the queue with only 4 person! Woohoo!!
Auntie behind the stall with the ingredients that are running out! Not knowing how to order, I only told auntie that I wanted the chicken drumstick, no fish and I want the fish fillet. What I ended up with initially looks very unappetising as I was given one whole piece of fish fillet and a chicken drumstick. That’s it. Nothing else.
My $3.50 Nasi Lemak which means coconut rice in Malay.
I added on the luncheon meat ( extra $0.50) after much hesitation and Uncle also agreed that the plate looked kind of bare with only 2 ingredients and it looked much better after I added the luncheon meat! Haha. Without luncheon meat, it cost $3.
Close up of the drumstick. The skin was crispy, nicely marinated and not fat!
The chicken was meaty and juicy too! Yumz!
The fish fillet reminds me of my childhood days and I have not been able to find one that tasted similar till today! Not sure if time has changed the meatiness of the fillet or everything looks much thicker when we were younger 😛
I had a mountain of fragrant coconut rice. Very traditional and cooked perfectly – not too wet nor dry. The chilli was spicy but I could not help mixing it into my rice as it tasted delicious! This nasi lemak is one hard to get item for lunch and is worth very bit of effort in waking up a little earlier in order to get it for breakfast! 😀
