New Year new eating experience! Can you guess what it is?

For lunch today, my cols decided on having vegetarian food so off we went to Pine Tree Cafe on Level 2 of Fortune Centre.

Not knowing what to order, I was really tempted to pick from the vegetarian Yong Tau Foo shown above but then decided to follow the order of the person who brought us here!

The order of Vegetarian Chicken Rice, $5 with a lot of cabbage, “chicken” and “luncheon meat”! This is the first time I am trying vegetarian chicken rice!

Another view of the “chicken”. I know that there are many mock meat out there but this mock chicken is really a first for me.

Close up of the “chicken”.
It is made up of layers of beancurd skin and the outer layer is fried so that it looks like the real chicken skin! A very interesting eating experience! The portion was generous and the rice has the faint taste of the real chicken rice (leaning more to the gingerly side) too! The chilli was nice but packs a punch and we had to keep dousing it out with the soup provided. 😛

Another Col’s order of Chicken Chop Rice, $4.50. I like the chicken rice better as it is made of beancurd and not gluten like this chicken chop but it does look like the real deal.
Worth a try if you are in the area as they have a lot of varieties like kway chap, thunder rice, hokkien mee, bak chor mee, curry fish to name a few but do go early as the seats are quickly filled up!
