Tokyo Banana – Strawberry Cake from Ginza

The Strawberry Cake from Ginza.

This is similar to the Tokyo Banana that I brought back from my Japanese trip. The only difference is that instead of banana custard, this is filled with strawberry and custard cream.

Absolutely love the way Japanese Products are packaged – very pretty, thoughtful and convenient!

Opening up the package, there are 4 individually wrapped cakes in the box.

Close up of the cake still in its wrapper.

Each cake has one cute strawberry mark on it to indicate the filling – ichigo (Japanese for Strawberry) and custard cream. Looks too cute to be eaten but please eat it after receiving from your friends as the expiry dates for these cakes are usually very short.

Unwrapping the cake, the scent of the cake is sooooo heavenly!

Taking a bite to reveal the 2 distinct layers of the custard cream on top and the strawberry cream at the bottom. The cake is so soft and just seem to melt in the mouth that is it all gone too soon!

This is one of the must buy items when you go to Japan. The recommendation is to buy it from the airport before you depart so that you have enough time to slowly enjoy the cake and reminisce your trip or arrange to meet your friends so that they can enjoy too!

If you cannot wait or want to try some now, ShiokJapan in Singapore has the 8 pieces ones for sale too.
