The Pelican @ One Fullerton

Running out of ideas for dinner, AMEX Love Dining brought us back to One Fullerton!

Enjoying the romantic view of the low full moon against the backdrop of the Singapore Flyer, Art and Science Museum and Marina Bay Sands as we stroll along One Fullerton while looking for the restaurant.

Spotted something that PB will order – Coffee by Oriole!

Menu – Wine by Glass

Just in time for the last order for Happy Hour, my glass of the Robert Mondavi, “Twin Oaks” Chardonnay, $17++, to start my meal since that is the only the choice available for the happy hour.

Starters – Old Fashioned Crab Cakes, $24++ served with pickled Vegetables.

Every bit made of the real stuff and it goes really well with the slightly tart cream sauce.

The pickled vegetable was perfect to cleanse your palate after eating it!

As I did not like the white wine, I am thankful that the service staff allow me to change my 2nd white to the red – Robert Mondavi, “Twin Oaks” Cabernet Sauvignon.

Side of Woodfire Grilled Chilli Cheese Corn, $14++

Simple dish that is easy to eat but it lacks the smokiness of the wood fire grill and spiciness that I had expected. Considering the portion and the full price at $14, this dish can be passed.

Ribeye Steak, $58++,served with anchovy butter and fries but PB had requested for the fries to be replaced with vegetables hence we had carrot fries. 😛

Love the savouriness of the anchovy in the butter and how well it goes with the steak!

Perfect doneness for our steak which has been nicely cut up for us to share as well.

Grilled Barramundi, $38++, served with spinach and bacon salad.

The skin could have been a little more crispy though.

We ended our meal with a dessert – Whoopie pie, $16++. All that was written under the menu was “Extra Whoopie” which was pretty vague but it was the pelican’s classic and hence we ordered it after checking with the service staff what it exactly was.

Chocolate cake sandwiched with chocolate cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce, chocolate bits and gold dust! Really whoopie! LOL

Look at how dense the cake was. Thankfully balanced by the chocolate cream which I wish we can have more of! 😛

Love the ambience of the place for chillaxing with friends and the very friendly staff. Would love to see more seafood items ala carte on the menu instead of platters as that would give more option to couples or small groups who would like some variety.
