Eating fried rice on my own as a main while outside has never appealed to me hence I have never gotten down to ordering this Pineapple Fried Rice from the Thai stall. I have been seduced by its lovely and cheerful colours so many times but it was the combination of the omelette with the pineapple rice that got me 😛
My Thai Pineapple Fried Rice with Omelette, $5. It came sprinkled with chicken/pork (did not check) floss and a huge omelette that was almost half the size of the plate! The chilli flakes and peanuts were added by me when I collected my order with the number tag that was given after making payment at the stall.
Moving the omelette and pork/chicken floss aside to reveal the lovely yellow rice and its ingredients.
All the ingredients were buried under the omelette and mountain of rice. There were chunks of pineapple, raisins, mixed vegetables, eggs and prawns in the fried rice. Curry powder was used in this recipe, giving the rice the beautiful, sunny, yellow colour. It also enhanced the flavour of the otherwise plain rice. The omelette was a letdown although it looked really good with the golden brown colours. It was a little oily and I wished they had added some ingredients into it. There was just a few slices of onions found in mine.
Overall, this is one big portion of rice that is better shared with your colleagues with other mains like tom yam soup or green curry from the stall to prevent a overload of carbs. 😉
