Teochew Fishball Noodle 潮州鱼圆面@ Albert Centre Market and Food Centre

First working day of the lunar new year and I am so fortunate to be sent to learn new things! Yeah! This also means new eating place to explore! hahaha..

Devote Taoists/Buddhists and people who love to shop in Bugis areas will definitely know this food center as there are many good and cheap food here. Queues are so long at practically every stall at any time of the day that we had a difficult time looking for a seat and settling on what we wanted for lunch.

I ended up joining the queue at this stall and didn’t realise that its unit number is 01-88. Wah. Good start to the year.. this year really huat huat! LOL

My FishBall Mee Pok Dry面薄干, $3

Close up of the noodles.

It looks really simple with 3 fish balls, few slices of fish cake and a tiny piece of lettuce. The auntie was complaining that ingredients are running out and no one is helping to replenish it. Oh well, I do wonder how it looks like when the ingredients are all available.

Having said that, the seasoning of the noodles with the chilli was quite nice and one surprise I found was hidden bits of crispy pork lard! Yumz.. That is one ingredient that sets it apart from the rest of the stall as most opt for healthier version and no longer serve freshly made pork lard that melt in your mouth..

Would be back to try other items like the laksa that seem quite popular with the patrons in front of me who all order that.. Hopefully, it is not so crowded when I next visit so that I can get to enjoy more food!
