Restaurant Week 2015 – The Chop House @ VivoCity
Made a reservation at the The Chop House for a Sunday Lunch after discovering that they are the sister restaurant of Wooloomooloo Steakhouse at Stamford Road! A last dash to try out these fine restaurants before Restaurant Week ends for this season.
The Chop House is located at Level 1 in Vivocity, right next to Jamie’s Italian Restaurant.
The Chop House Restaurant Week 2015 Lunch Menu at 3 courses for $25++ per guest. There were 2 options for appetisers, 4 options (Slow braised duck rigatoni, BBQ Chicken Burger, Crispy Skin Salmon Fillet & 120-Day Grain Fed Australian Tenderloin at an additional charger of $10+) for main course and 2 options for desserts.

View of the interior from where I was seated. Very cosy and friendly for big groups.
The other view of the interior as well as the al fresco dining area facing the waterfront to Sentosa in the background.

Eggplant Parmigiana – Buffalo mozzarella, ricotta cheese, tomato ragout
My friend ordered this dish and I got a taste of it and found it pretty salty. You have to eat it with the greens to balance out the saltiness.
My Spiced Ginger and Carrot Soup with Sourdough croutons and chives.
Love the use of the irregular bowl.
Lovely carrot soup with a hint of ginger taste so for those who do not like ginger, this is one soup that you can try.
For the main course, my friend ordered the Slow braised Duck Rigatoni with Wild Mushroom ragout, spinach and parmesan shave.
The rigatoni (aka pasta) was huge and very al dente. Would love more sauce to go with it!
I decided to add $10++ to try the tenderloin here although I just had a steak on Friday! Was pretty shocked when we were served our mains after waiting for 20minutes.
My 120-Day Grain Fed Australian Tenderloin (at an additional $10++) served with chive mash, spinach, thyme roasted mushrooms and peppercorn sauce looking way too charred.
I had asked for medium for the doneness of the beef but this black chunk looks way overcooked. I was pretty tempted to ask for a change of the steak but I did not want to wait another 20min for it to be served.
I called my steak the toad steak for it looks like a toad from this angle isn’t it? Black, ugly and unappetizing. No justice was done in cooking this good cut of meat to this extend. Pretty disappointed that this charred piece was actually served by the restaurant.
Cutting right through the middle of the steak. This is already medium well to well-done considering the part of the chunk it was at. 🙁 The peppercorn sauce was also very salty.
I am not sure if they served the wrong steak to me for the customer beside me had beautifully pink steak (the doneness I wanted) but she was playing with it as it seems like she had wanted a more cooked piece of meat.
The spinach, mushrooms and mashed potatoes.
Sauces to go with the beef.
Chilli Mustard
Beetroot.
Belgium Chocolate Brownie with vanilla bean ice cream and strawberries
The ice cream was already melting when it reached our table. I know the weather in Singapore is hot but it is not that hot to warranty a drippy ice cream served in a restaurant. I guessed it was left for a while for some service staff to pick it up to serve to us and hence the state of the creamy ice cream.
My Affagato with vanilla bean ice cream, rich espresso and almond biscotti
The presentation of this otherwise boring dessert redeemed the day and made me kinda forget my charred tenderloin.
The biscotti, was a tad hard though but the combination of espresso and vanilla ice cream worked for me 🙂
Our bill for this meal came up to $70.70 which is pretty decent but I feel that it was not worth it to pay extra $10++ for that badly cooked steak. In terms of taste, the food could do with a little less salt as most of the dishes were overweight in that category. I may consider visiting again to give their steak one more chance if there are good deals around. If not, my suggestion would be to head straight to Wooloomooloo for your beef craving!
