Restaurant Week 2015 at FYR!

Located on Boon Tat Street, it may be easy to missed the restaurant if you are not observant enough! Luckily PB spotted it and as we were early, we could get a parking lot along the road side. Save not on those parking coupons for parking attendants do come by frequently in this area.

Entrance of FYR Cycene ond drinc – Fire, kitchen and drink. I had a hard time pronouncing the name the first time i saw it and when I finally realised it is fire, kitchen and drink, I was like.. duh!

Long narrow Restaurant with a “transformed shophouse” feel 😛
Main menu but that is not what we are here for today!

The Restaurant Week 2015 Dinner Menu is what we are here for! 3 course set dinner for $35++

The ala Carte menu created specially for RW.

Table setup

Lovely murals that kept me occupied for a while.

Our ice water served in Japanese cups

Love the knives and forks here! Just the right weight and great colour!

Appetiser – Sauteed Prawns served with anchovies, garlic, ginger and crispy rice vermicelli.
Was tempted to order the Sauteed Shimeiji Mushrooms with Truffle Oil and Salted Egg Beurre Blanc but ended up with the prawns for easy sharing.

Gorgeous prawns. Very succulent! The rice vermicelli was not as crispy as I had thought.

PB’s Grilled Salmon Tartare wtih mixed herb, ikan bilis, spring onions

View of the salmon tartare on a bed of sliced cucumbers

Close up of the Salmon Tartare

It was neither cold nor hot and I find it a tad weird. It would have been better served chilled and the temperature contrast with the crispy sticks would have made it a great starter!

Love this view of the lights and the murals.
There were 4 choices for main courses – Atlantic cod, Pork Ribs, Brandt 365 day grain-fed Ribeye ($13++) and Maori Lakes Lamb Saddle ($13++) and both of us decided on the Ribeye for an additional $13++ each.

My medium-well Ribeye.

Close up of the steak

My medium well steak.

The roasted baby potatoes under my steak.

Lovely sauce that goes well with everything on the plate.

PB’s Ribeye done medium

Our desserts – one of each from the menu.

Chocolate Gateau & Mint Ice Cream with Devon Cream, Strawberry Pate and Coconut Flakes

Love the mint ice cream and the strawberry pate!

Grilled Pineapple and Ginger Ice Cream with Rum, Gula Melaka and Cinnamon.
Interesting dessert that you either love or hate. 😛
Our bill came up to $112.99 after the addition for the steaks. On hindsight, we should have tried the other items in the main course section and reserved the steak options for proper steakhouse 😛
