Finally got to try one of the pioneer Pork Rib Soup aka Bak Kut Teh (BKT) in Singapore!
Despite us reaching at only 10pm, the service staff did not reject us and took our orders. Most of their signature food were sold out so we settled for what was left and as usual, our eyes had a bigger appetite than our stomach could hold 😛

Tau Kua/Tau Pok, $2
They had ran out of of the deep-fried beancurd and PB agreed to have it replaced with firm beancurd while I was in the washroom. As he wouldn’t eat it, I had a bit of a tau kua overdose. :$

Mee Sua Soup面线汤, $3
This is more expensive but a bigger portion than the one at Ya Hua. I like this as the mee sua has soaked up all the goodness of the pork rib soup. Great eaten on its own too but may fill you up till there is no space for other food if you have a small appetite!

The soup was peppery and darken with a little bit of dark sauce.
I am a soup monster and you can see that my soup was slurp up much faster than the pork rib. 😛 Free-refills are available on request but since they were closing (or closed, as there were conflicting opening hours stated on the websites), I refrained from asking for more.

I noticed there were taps on the wall. Nice design as customers/staff can quickly refill their tea pots. Must come and try their BKT with tea next time!

Our meal came up to $44.40 inclusive of 7% GST which is pretty decent considering we had a 1/4 braised duck, 2 soups and plenty of other side dishes. Do note that payment is by CASH only so please bring enough money with you. 😛
