My first tine having a Japanese Buffet with lots of sashimi fan though not one myself! 😛
Trying out Mitsuba Japanese Restaurant located at Level 3 of The Central where a lot of Japanese Restaurants are gathered. It was full house when we arrived and there was even a big group of teenagers waiting for a table!
Bottles of Sake ready for dispensing greeted us as we entered the restaurant.
Table Setting
Since this is a ala carte lunch buffet and there is a promotion going on, I have to take the pictures very quickly before they fly into someone’s tummy so have arranged the photos of the food that we tried in the categories as it appeared on the menu regardless of which round it was ordered 😛
Wads of order chit in a pretty Japanese cup for you to fill up.
There is a promotion now where you get 25% off every 4 adults for lunch! Really value for money!
For dinner, you get 15% off with 4 adults.
Some great lunch sets that you can try if you do not fancy stuffing yourself silly with good quality food 😛

Some of our order chits!
Starting with Ippin Mono (appetizers):
Edamame
Pidan Tofu (Century Egg Tofu)
Had to order this when I saw it as I really love the one at Akashabu which was really fragrant and delicious. This one lacks the fragrance but was still nice.
My second helping – looks more appetising in this tiny bowl!
From the Sashimi:
The Sahsimi Moriwase was combined with our individual orders of Salmon Sashimi in one plate.
Close up of the Salmon Sashimi. Thumbs up!
2 Servings of Thick Cut Salmon Sashimi!
From Temaki:
We had the Unagi (Eel), Spider (Soft Shell Crab) and California (Crab Stick with Avocado) handroll and the Tobiko (Flying Fish Roe) and Unagi Sushi.
Close up of the Temki and sushi.
From Maki Mono:
One portion of Spider (Soft Shell Crab) Maki – Decent but I wish there were more soft shell crab.
From the Mushi/Shiro Mono (Steamed/Soup Dishes):
Dobin Mushi (Japanese teapot Soup)
One pot can serve 3-4 person and is refillable if you hand the teapot back to the service staff.
Inside the pot was the clear soup with a stalk of mushroom swimming in it.
Squeeze the calamansi into the soup for the citrus-y fragrance in the savoury soup and drink it while it is hot as it tasted way better than when it is cold.
Chawanmushi (Japanese Steamed Egg)
Ingredients in the chawamushi varies from cup to cup and the egg was a little firm. Not too sure if they were prepared on order as it took a long time to come after we ordered it.
Miso Shiru (Miso Soup)
From the Yaki Mono (Grilled Dishes) :
Saba Shio (Mackerel with salt)
Salmon with Shio
Sake Teri (Salmon with Teriyaki Sauce)
Teba (Chicken Mid Wing)
2nd order
Shitake Teri (Japanese Mushroom with Teriyaki Sauce)
From the menu, we thought we would order 2 to share among the 4 of us but after it was served, we realised that sharing is not needed! hahaha
Tsukune Teri (Chicken Meat Balll with Teriyaki Sauce)
A little smaller than I had expected and in need of more teriyaki sauce.
Sanma Shio (Pike with Salt)
Had to order this after seeing it from the other tables. The meat was so fine and I would recommend you to order it too!
Bone from the fish taken out.
The bone is so fine too that you can actually eat it but the usual caution when eating fish applies!
From the Age Mono (Deep Fried Dishes):
Our order of Yasai Tempura (Assorted Vegetables) and Ebi Tempura (4 pcs) were served together.
The vegetables were sweet and the prawns had very firm meat which we like!
Takoyaki (Octopus Ball)
Korokke (Croquette)
Close up of the croquette with sweet corn.
Tori Katsu (Chicken Chop in Bread Crumbs)
Pumpkin Tempura and Fish Tempura.
From the Teppanyaki (Hot Griddle Dishes):
Bifu Enoki Maki (Beef Roll with Golden Mushroom) and Buta Enoki Maki (Pork Roll with Golden Mushroom)
Bifu Enoki Maki (Beef Roll with Golden Mushroom)
Just nice for one mouthful! Love it though the beef was a tad harder than I had imagine.
Buta Enoki Maki (Pork Roll with Golden Mushroom)
Enoki Shitake Batayaki (Fried Mushroom with Butter sauce)
Sake Batayaki (Salmon Steak with Butter Sauce) – Love this though I am not a salmon person!
The spread from another table as they ordered portions for 4 person per item! What a spread!
Overall, the food was good, the service was good and the company was good! The only issue I had was with how the food of the same type was all piled onto one plate which makes reaching out for it harder if you are dining in big groups.
