You will need to use this after eating at this restaurant!
Checking out Lokkee乐记 which is located at Level 3 of Plaza Singapura (old wing).
Still remembered that this used to be occupied by Nanxiang Steamed Buns Restaurant where we had some soup buns and nice dumplings.
Lokkee (pronounced as Lucky), a member of the Tung Lok Group, has happy hour promotion from 5.30pm – 7pm where beers goes for $5-$9, cocktails for $10 and you get a FREE fish skin chips on 1st drink order! The dishes here have been given a witty makeover, creating some FUN in dining at Chinese Restaurants. 🙂
Storm Trooper with a bubble tea greets you as you enter the restaurant 🙂
View of the restaurant facing the entrance from where we were seated (taken at closing)
Cheeky play on the packaging of the extra wet tissue. LOL. You will have to use it to clean you hands and mouth after the meal! 😛 What were you thinking of? hahaha
Ala Carte Menu (extracted from Website).
There is zilch Chinese characters on the menu except for 乐记! Pretty unusual for a Chinese Restaurant right? The only Chinese element, to me, would be the chinas on the table and the portraits of the Chinese Ladies in the restaurant. 😀 Everything else is ang mo. LOL
There is currently a Father’s Day Menu if you would like to bring your Dad for a celebratory meal.
The Drinks menu
A bottle of Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce on the table for you to spice up your meal.
First up was PB’s order of Golden Crispy Fish Skin, $10++.
Fish skin deep-fried to perfection with egg yolk and garlic.Thumbs up but the portion could be bigger? 😛
Next up, the Awesome Flaming Pineapple Beef, $30++
The pineapple being lit up!
Flaming Pineapple!! Huat AH!
I was pretty scare that the plate may get burnt too!
Unveiling the the braised beef in the pineapple while the outside burns on.
Close up of the braised beef in the pineapple.
An innovative way of serving a boring dish. 😛 We had a mixture of tender and chewy beef chunks in the pineapple container but it was overall a nice dish.
Stir-fried Kale, $18++ – Fresh curly kale wok-fried with garlic.
Firecracker Chicken Nest, $26++ – Deep-fried diced chicken served with chopped dried chillies and mango purée.
Close up of the mangoo purée.
PB had though those yellow globs were yolk eggs! It looks very real as real egg shells were used to contain the mango purée. Love the presentation but would have preferred that they are chilled so that there is a contrast between the hot, juicy deep fried chicken meat and the fiery and numbing sze chuan peppercorns in the dish.
Chow Mein, $ 14++ – An all time classic. Wheat noodles with mixed vegetables and sliced chicken,
stir-fried with house special sauce
Close up of the noodles served in a paper container.
The noodles was OK only and I had mine with the chilli sauce to spice it up a little!
Blueberry Jelly Bouquet , $10++ – Blueberry jelly, raspberry sorbet, chocolate-coated rice crispies, chardonnay marinated white pear and mascarpone cheese.
Close up of the chocolate-coated rice crispies, chardonnay marinated white pear and mascarpone cheese.
I like the raspberry sorbet and the pear but felt that the mascarpone cheese tasted a little heavy.
VIP rooms that you can book for big groups.
High Chairs seating outside the rooms for 2 pax.
Keep Calm and Drink Bubble Tea. 😀
Our total bill was SGD69.34. It would have crossed 3-digits for 1 starter, 1 noodles, 2 meat, 1 veg and 1 dessert if not for the current promotion from Amex Palate Dining Privilege which shaved 50% our bill! AMEX privileges has really improved a lot from the olden days and I do feel tempted to sign on for it so that I can explore more exciting eating places! It is really a good bargain and I will definitely be back as there are many interesting dishes that I would like to try!
