We are out to Tanjong Pagar Market for lunch today! Yeah! Decided to pamper myself and gave myself a Japanese lunch!
This stall has been here since 6years ago and I have not tried it!!! Why why why?? I think it is the queue that has been putting me off! hahaha.. Kazan has been offering authentic Japanese food at food court prices and that probably explains the long queue.
It did not take me long to decide on my order of Ebi Set. The reason – a certificate from Singapore Special Recommendations 2008 stating that the ebi set, salmon teriyaki set n teriyaki chicken set are recommended!
The many articles framing the stall and the half hidden chef 😀
The Set Menu available. Though the prices for the set are slightly higher than the average price of food in Tanjong Pagar Market, I think it is worth it for it comes with a side, soup and rice.
My Ebi Lunch Set , $5.50
I was reading the articles at the stall and they mentioned that the miso soup is nice and indeed, it tasted yummy. It was not too salty and there were seaweed and generous bits of silky smooth beancurd in it. If it had come in a bigger portion, I wouldnt mind buying it and drinking it on days when you feel like dieting! Haha
The rice that came with sprinkled with black sesame. I added the Chilli powder for the heat 😛
The soul of this meal – EBI, deep-fried prawns! It was freshly deep-fried and the batter is crumbly and crispy. The ebi tasted great with the dips. The mayonnaise was rich and tasted great! Definitely the japanese kind and not those cheap brands.
Cross section of the ebi. So fresh!
The pickled side that cleanses your palate.
The BBQ/Plum Dip. I just cannot make it out but it goes well with the deep-fried prawns.
Everything was served pipping hot it was definitely worth the wait. I’ll be back to try the teriyaki chicken!
