Hokkaido Izakaya 北海道酒場 @ Wisma Atria,Orchard, Japan Food Town

Finally trying out Hokkaido Izakaya! Checking out their second branch at Wisma Atria in Japan Food Town. This is probably the 4th restaurant that I have tried in this Japan Food Town and still loving everyone of them!

Menu cover – Hokkaido Izakaya 北海道酒場

A thick one with lots of choices that you will probably be dazed!

Menu  – Telling you which part of Hokkaido the food comes from!

Menu – Soba

We were so attracted to the Kaki Age Tempura Soba that we ordered one each and happily neglected by rest! LOL.. On hindsight, we should have ordered a different soba so that we can tried more food but reminiscing our Japan trip far outweight that!

Menu – Charcoal Grill

Menu – Agemono, Salad and Miso Soup

Menu – Sashimi, Ala carte Sashimi, Appetizer and Roll Sushi

Menu – Donburi, Set Meal and Curry Rice

Menu – Recommended Set and Raclette Cheese add on

Menu – Some hand-drawn menu for the fresh seafood

Menu – Hokkaido Party Set, $50++ per pax.

This looks value for money and you can try soooo many things without racking your brains too hard but we were not ready for such a feast and hence went with our ala carte orders. 🙂

Menu – Drinks List

Beer, Sho-chu. Fruit wine, rice wine, White wine and soft drinks. Take your pick!

With Happy Hour All Day Long, that is not hard to decide! LOL

Kirin Beer Half Pint, $5++ and Ice Green Tea, $1.50++ in the background.

250ml of ice cold smooth beer. Shiok!

Hokkaido Seaweed Soy Sauce for our sashimi.

Scallops sashimi (3pieces), $15++

So fresh, plumb and sweet!

I’m loving it! Cant get enough of it! 😛

Our Grilled Scallops, $11++.

Side view of the grilled scallops topped with leeks.

Slice of butter on top of the scallops.

After eating the hotate sashimi, this one pales in comparison! 😛

Grilled Squid, $15++

Close up of the grilled squid.

Nicely grilled over charcoal, though I am not a big fan of squid,this is quite nice to eat with a dip of mayonnaise.

Hokkaido Crab Cream Croquette, $12++

Inside of the croquette

Crispy on the outside and rich and creamy on the inside. It was nice but we could do with more crab in it since this is a crab croquette.

Kaki Age Tempura Soba, $12++ served with onigiri.

The soba is made with 100% buckwheat flour from Horokanai City, Hokkaido. Yummy but preferred it to be more al-dente. The soup taste sweet at first but as you slurp the soba, it get a little more salty.

The kakiage tempura.

Close up of the crispy batter and the ingredients in it.

Half way through, decided to throw the tempura into the hot soba like how we had it in Japan for the batter to soak up the soup. 🙂

The so delicious onigiri but we were just too full to finish it!

The more you chew on it, the more flavours are released especially from the black and white sesame seeds. It is so good that despite being very full, I finished 3/4 of it!

Our additional order of scallop sashimi!

So good and so full but still enjoying it! 😛

The quality and price really puts eating hotate at one of my fav japanese chain to 2nd place. 😛

Our bill for the night – $115.95 after 10% service charge and 7% GST.

Overall a very enjoyable experience! Although the table spacing was very close (just like in a real izakaya), the experience was not awkward as this is how you should be eating in an Izakaya. Will definitely be back to try the other food!
