Gianni’s Trattoria @ Bandar Baru Permas Jaya, JB, Malaysia
Just in time to eat a super late lunch/early dinner before heading back on the road to face a potential jam back home! 😛 Finally checking out Gianni’s at Permas Jaya after driving past it numerous times and do you know that they have been here for at least 4 years and this is the first time (finally!) that we are stepping in? Also, finally brought our friend here after talking it for the nth time 😛
Special Menu written on the chalkboard at the entrance.
There is a Special Sunday Lunch Set, RM40++, consisting of a starter with choice of Tomato Soup with Pesto or Smoked Duck Salad and a main with choice of Lamb Cutlet with Spinach Fritata or Linguine with Salmon Aglio Olio or Pizza Diavola. Since pizza is on my mind, the lunch set which comes with a drink, works perfectly for me 😉

Captivated by this block of cheese in the restaurant!
The only time that I came this close to such a big block of Parmigiano was in Italy! Never expected to see it in Asia and at such proximity! LOL.
House bread that was served.

They have added some of the parmigiano into the dip as well. Love it!
Close up of the bread.
Love their bread as always but it would have been better if it was served warm so that the crust can be crispy and the inside soft and fluffy which would be perfect with the dips!
Appetizer – Carpaccio di manzo, RM38++
Close up of the thinly sliced beef tenderloin, mushrooms, green salad, mustard dressing and parmigiano.
Everything goes so well together that you would not have known that it is raw beef that you are eating.
This is one dish that we always order when we are here and it got the thumbs up from our friend too.
My Tomato Soup from the lunch set.
Close up of the pesto sauce.
Stirring everything together and loving every bit of it! The tang was perfect and it really warms the stomach.
Love it so much that we had to order the mushroom soup for our friend to try.
Creama di Funghi con Mascarpone e tartufo, RM22++
Look at how every spoonful is full of the real stuff! YUMZ!
Freshly shaved Parmigiano to go on our pizza
We were given it as stick form to try after enquiring how else can the cheese be eaten.
I personally preferred the thinly shaved one over the stick form as the former melts in your mouth.
Pizza Diavola from the lunch set.
The pizza was nice but the one Taman Pelangi tasted better 😛
The men’s beef!
Seriously good stuff!
Not exactly sure who has what but one is Sirloin and the other Ribeye. Both are good!
Thick and juicy!
Done-ness wise, it was a tad overdone since this was supposed to be medium but the grade of the beef kinda make up for it.
The beef came with a side of string fries that was so addictively delish that despite being very full, we were still reaching out for it! 😛
Our damage for the day – RM437.25 (~SGD141.96 or SGD150 after adding on our tips for the super friendly service).
If the price of the main menu is too steep for you, my suggestion would be to try out their really value for money lunch sets first. The quality of the food is so good that, trust me, it would not be long till you start visiting for their mains 😉
