Supposed to be a no-dinner night after all the restaurant week’s feasting but after waiting for close to 3hrs for my date, I just feel like chomping on something! 😛
Steamed Pork Dumpling 小笼包 (aka XLB), 10 pieces for $11.30++
The simplest and lightest thing that I can think of 😛 There was another dumpling with a filling that I had eaten in Taiwan and only discovered today that it is on the SG’s menu. Wanted to try but it was sold out. So do wait for my next visit to see what it is! ;p
Other than the XLB and 1x Stewed Beancurd, the rest were ordered by the PB who had said he does not want to eat. Not too sure if there was any telepathy here as I had wanted to order almost exactly the same stuff for him! All except the rice which is carbs!
The legendary toothpick from DTF!
Finally seeing it today! There are so many different parts for you to pick different stuff in your mouth but I seriously have no need for it! LOL
Deep-fried Vegetable Wanton 炸菜肉馄饨, $8.80++
Something that we have seen other people order but we are trying it for the first time.
Cross section of the vegetables stuffing.
Dip it into the accompanying sauce for a more savoury taste.
Fried Rice with Shrimps and Eggs 虾仁蛋饭, $13.80++
Any egg fried rice at DTF is good but it has gotten a little costly.
Oriental Wontons with Black Vinegar & Chilli Oil 红油抄手, $9.30++
Tossing the dumpling through the vingear sauce. Like them to be thoroughly coated with the slightly spicy and sour sauce. 🙂
Stewed Beancurd 四喜烤麸 $5.80++ per plate.
Used to be my favourite but not anymore since the taste have changed.
PB’s plate that has plenty of mushrooms.
My plate with plate of stewed beancurd.
Overall, I find that DTF is getting a little pricey. A simple meal like this has exceeded $60 which is easily a person’s day for the day. I think their business have been affected a little too as it used to be bustling with queues of people but these seemed to be missing the last few times we went.
