Din Tai Fung 鼎泰丰 @ Marina Bay Link Mall
This must be one of my most visited Din Tai Fung 鼎泰丰 outlet due to its location and partly because of the free parking that comes with every $30 purchase. However, I must qualify that this is not the best Din Tai Fung 鼎泰丰 outlet to eat their famous Xiao Long Bao as I feel that the gathers on top of the Xiao Long Bao here is just too thick.
My friend and I decided to get a quick, simple and healthy dinner after chilling at the nearby Starbucks. I was left to place the order and since both of us were not very hungry, I ended up with the dishes below.
A few of the appetizers that I wanted had ran out so had to settle for this Braised Toufu 卤香豆腐 ($4). It was not a bad choice after all. The toufu was soft and well braised and it was topped with minced meat and mushroom. Nice.
Cross Section of the toufu with the generous topping. You can taste the sweetness as well as the savoury braised sauce.
I saw on the table that there is A Taste Of Spring promotion featuring Taiwan Shrimp & Pork Oriental Wantons with Spicy Sauce川味抄手 ($7.50) and I ordered that to try. It is similar to their 油抄手 which a friend had introduced me to. This wanton is bigger and more meaty and the sauce has a hint of curry taste which makes it quite special.
Close up of the Shrimp & Pork Oriental Wantons thoroughly mixed with the Spicy Sauce. I would recommend you to try it while is last as it is only available from 15th Feb – 30th April 2012.
The Xiao Long Bao 小笼包 ($9.50 for 10 pieces) that is a must order and eat while it is hot. Notice the thickness of the gathers of the skin of the dumpling? This is the only flaw, otherwise, it is perfect 🙂
Glass Noodles with Fried Beancurd and Wanton 油豆腐细粉($8.50) – A simple, light, healthy and warm order of glass noodle to warm the stomach and round up the meal 🙂
