Back to Crystal Jade Kitchen for the Dim sum, congee and roast meat!
Entrance to the restaurant.
They do not accept reservations during weekends so you have to take a queue number and wait for your turn. We waited for around 20 minutes before we were seated.
The roast meats on display and the dim sum items for takeaway.
Dim Sum Items for Takeaeway – Deep Fried Chicken Wings with Shrimp Paste, Mini Egg Tarts and Baked Crispy Honey BBQ Pork Bun which I have no luck with this time round too!
More Dim Sum for takeaway – Pan-fried Carrot Cake, Deep-fried Yam Puff with minced meat, Baked BBQ Pork with sesame pastry, etc.
Dim Sum Menu!
The Menu seems to have been refresh to give it a brighter and cheerier look.
The Congee Menu.
For more of the menu, you can refer to my previous post here
If you do not fancy the congee from the list available, you can customise it with your preferred ingredient from the list available – Century egg, lean meat, pork meatball, sliced carp fish, pig liver, pig kidney, pig stomach, pig intestine, etc, for $9.80++ with 2 items, $10.80++ for 3 items and if you want more, each additional ingredient costs $1.80++ 🙂
Pot of sugar free chrysanthemum tea, $4.80++, that we started our meal with.
This is one chilli on the table that you need to try. Love it with my dim sum and noodles but I did not have any noodles today! 😛
Chilled Jelly Fish, $8.80++
When you leave the ordering to PB, you are bound to end up with a table full of food!
Close up of the jelly fish.
Crunchy and yummy. Gone in a blink of the eye.
The Roast Meat 3 Combination 三拼烧味, $23.80++, came next.
Close up of the mustard dip for the roast pork belly and the ginger and spring onions dip for the kampong chicken.
Our selection of Crystal Jade Signature Pork Belly 翡翠烧肥叉, Kampong Chicken 盐浸甘榜鸡 and Roasted Pork Belly 脆皮烧肉.

Love the crackling skin and the tender meat! Thumbs up and must eat!!!
Another item you have to order is the Crystal Jade Signature Pork Belly. It looks fat but it did not taste fat at all. Can’t help popping it into my mouth although I am a “no fatty meat” person! 😛 You just have to try it!
The kampong chicken was tender and juicy and I like it with the ginger and spring onions dip though it was a little on the salty side today.
Lean Meat with Century Egg Congee 皮蛋瘦肉粥, $7.80++ that I am looking forward to.
Close up of the century egg, lean meat and crispy fritter in the smooth congee.
Absolutely love it! Eat with care as it is pipping hot!
Deep Fried Fish Skin, $8.80++
PB said it was salted yolk fish skin but I did not taste much of the salted egg yolk. A crispy appetizer nevertheless.
My Order of Steamed Custard Bun 奶油流沙包, $4.80++ for 3 pieces
Part of the bottom came off with the paper 😛
Inside of the Custard Bun.
It was a tad oily and the bun stuck to my teeth 🙁 Preferred the one at Wan Li Restaurant.
Steamed Siew Mai with Crab Roe 蟹黄蒸烧卖, $5.80++ for 4 pieces
One very good siew mai that is worth the price!
Pardon my messy dissection of the siew mai to show the real ingredients in it and why it is worth the money! There were 1 1/2 succulent prawns in each siew mai that is topped with pretty generous roe.
Pan-fried Carrot Cake with Dried Shrimps and Preserved Meat 香煎萝卜糕, $4.80++ for 3 pieces
Close up of the radish in the carrot cake. Like!
Since there was a 20% discount for the desserts, PB went *mad*.
My order of the Mango Sago Pomelo, $4.80++(before discount).
Close up of the ingredients.
Texture, taste, ingredients were all good. Only portion was a tad small.
Glutinous Rice Dumpling coated with grated peanuts/coconut, $4.80++ (before discount)
Looks good but I was not wow by it.
Herbal Jelly, $4,80++ (before discount)
Nice dessert to round off the meal.
The food at this crystal jade is very well received by us and many families who have made this outlet a regular dining place. The roast meat, noodles and congee are items that are very good and it has been a while since we found a restaurant with good and consistent cooking. If you happen to be at Great World City, you can consider eating at this outlet if you do not mind the wait. 🙂
