My Ayam Penyet lunch , $5.50, today!
I think I have found the Japanese stall that used to be at Cecil Street but has now turned into a coffeeshop after seeing bowls after bowls of Japanese curry, bentos, etc as we walked along this stretch of coffeeshop at Lim Teck Kim road in search of the Ayam Penyet that has shifted from La Kopi Coffeeshop at Hoe Chiang Road. It was also after my meal that I realised this could be the coffeeshop that some of us were looking for as the name sounded so familiar – Passion Cafe! I will check it out the next round but for now, it is to the back to my ayam penyet!
Stall
Simple layout with the uncle frying the chicken in the big wok behind and the top of the fridge used as table for food collection. Depsite being there at 12.45pm, there was still a long queue for the food!
Menu
Other than ayam penyet, there is nasi lemak, mee bakso, mee rebus, mee siam, lotong, gado gado, tau goreng, oxtail soup, etc.
Waiting for us orders to be prepared.
My lunch!!
The presentation looks and feels the same, the name of the stall is the same but the people manning the stall is different. My col was very sure he saw the auntie the other day when he visited so maybe she is not free today.

There is the devilish chilli, toufu, cabbage, blanched kangkong and cucumber. The chilli is not for the faint-hearted as the heat from the chilli goes right to your stomach!!! So spicy but so sedap and shiok! I found the chicken to be a tad dry and hence lapped it up with the chilli but then tried to douse the flames by swallowing big mouthful of rice and non spicy cabbage and the blanched kangkong! Next time I am ordering an egg to go with the meal!!! ;p
There is even free tissue paper to wipe those sweat off!
My cleanly devoured bones! 😛 We were debatting if kampong chicken was used as the bones were very tiny!
